Ziplining, swimming, and a ton of Fat Tuesdays to stay cool: three things to describe our one day on the island of Roatán.
Hello Roatán 👋🏽
Did you know… Roatán sits 30-miles from Honduras in the Caribbean bay and holds the second largest reef in the world?
We arrived at the island early in the morning and watched this land mass covered in lush green trees get larger and larger and larger.
It felt like a Jurassic Park movie.
Since no words can explain how vast and beautiful it was, look at the photos above for proof! I kid you not, the photos was taken with my iPhone. In fact, all the photos on this blog post are taken with my iPhone, so brace yourself for nature being its beauteous-self.
No Hurry, No Stress
Our Princess Cruise ship docked next to other ships including Carnival and Royal Caribbean and right away I could tell there were hundreds of people flooding onto the beaches 😅 Luckily, the parents got off the ship earlier than us so we wouldn’t stress about the crowd, and the “youngins” (aka my sister and my cousins) got off when we were done with our late breakfast.
Celebrating His Birthday in Honduras
Before I share more photos of the island, a big shoutout to Lordan.
Happy Birthday Brother!
I love that you’re in a different country for your birthday every year, and I hope you enjoyed this year in Honduras #birthdaygoals
What I Did at Roatán, Honduras in One Day
1. Got drinks at two different Fat Tuesdays
There are so many Fat Tuesday franchises in the Caribbean! We got our first round of drinks at the Fat Tuesday closest to the port entry (where there is a “Mahogany Bay” sign). And our second round happened after ziplining.

2. Spontaneously booked an extreme ziplining excursion
As Helen Keller says, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” I resonated with this quote when we were given the choice to get the standard zip lining package or the EEEXXXTREEEMEEE! zip lining package, and Ashley, Adrianna, and I chose extreme.

3. Rented a cabana to chill in
My sister and Lordan rented a beach cabana and (like a typical Filipino sister) I mooched off of them and hung out in the cabana too 😋

4. Ate a platter of food at (a different) Fat Tuesday
This was our second time at Fat Tuesday, and we had to fill our bellies.
5. Swam at the beach
It was raging hot. The weather was supposedly 90 degrees, but it felt like 110. I’m glad we went swimming at the beach to cool off. My niece Jenelle would not get out of the water. LOL, she made her dad (Lordan) stay out in the water the entire time until I went in the water with her.
6. Thought about taking a sky lift to get back to our ship
We thought about it, but ended up not doing it.
Instead, we walked back to the ship and found nice places to stop and take photos.
7. Found a hammock
On our way back to the ship, we found a hammock and had a mini-photoshoot 😝

Travel Tip: Go with the flow.
When I’m on vacation, I am the type of person who goes with the flow.
I love planning and preparing when it comes to flights, itineraries, and transportation, but in the end I loosely follow my itinerary for the best possible adventure. The best stories begin with no plan and spontaneous decisions (just like the ones we made and didn’t make in Honduras). I hope this inspires you to go with the flow on your next adventure!
lots of virtual hugs from somewhere
