When my plane landed at the airport, I had an overwhelming emotion of happiness. I thought to myself, I am actually in New York. I also thought… what an amazing day. This morning I ate a super healthy spinach omelet, I rode with Virgin America for the first time, I watched the news on the airplane, AND the Supreme Court declared that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states. Years from now, I will be able to tell my grandchildren about how this major event in history occurred while I was on a plane to New York.
I boarded the plane, turned on CNN… and did a double take of the screen! I am so happy for this milestone. There is still a long way to go to to implement these laws and move forward towards protecting individuals from discrimination, but today is a day of relief. It is a day to celebrate.
After five hours on the plane with purple party-mood lighting, I landed in New York at 4pm EST. Tired and hungry, I realized that I just lost three hours of time flying from California (LAX) to New York (JFK). Quick Review about Virgin America: I would fly with them again mostly because of the television readily available and because the economy seats are pretty comfortable.
This is where I’m staying for the next few weeks. The program is held at Pace University and I have an awesome roommate named Jen. I find it funny how I have never lived the dorm life while I was in college, but now that I am graduated and out of college I am staying in a dorm. My life is pure irony.
Jesse picked me up from Pace University! It’s so nice to see my boo/BGF best guy friend). He was an awesome personal tour guide. Seriously JesseBoo, thank you so much for taking me around the city in a few hours. I pretty much covered a lot in one night. We went to Shake Shack, Grand Central Station, the High Line, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the Metro.
The fries were good. The vanilla shake was good. The burgers were ahh-mazing! We ordered the Shack Stack® — a cheeseburger with a ’Shroom Burger topped with lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce. YUUUUMMM!

This is Grand Central Station. I have seen this station hundreds of times in television shows and movies. I fangirled quite a bit when I visited this location. Anyone down to flashmob with me?
This is the view from the Brooklyn Bridge Park. Notice the little detail of the Freedom Tower strutting its lights with pride after today’s events! My vlogs will be posted after I get back from New York.
